Picture gallery with Renaissance and Baroque works
The Old Collection is located on the old Saarbrücken side of the Saar in the Kreisständehaus next to Saarbrücken Castle. The centrepiece of the exhibition is a high-calibre painting gallery with Renaissance and Baroque works up to the 19th century.On display are nationally important works of Dutch landscape painting and 17th century still life as well as important testimonies to the history of Saarland and Saarbrücken, such as portraits of the Princes of Nassau-Saarbrücken and representatives of the Saarland steel industry.
At the same time, the collection also focuses on artefacts such as coins, miniatures, silver and porcelain objects and furniture.
