Leisure, cultural and creative centre on the Saar
Until the end of the 1960s, Saarbrücken's Osthafen, the eastern harbour, was a warehouse district and logistical hub for a variety of goods and commodities. What remained of this were several unused industrial buildings and open spaces, which were used for festivals and subculture projects.The Silodom forms the centre of the complex. Parties, concerts, raves, and workshops take place here regularly. The cultural association Sektor Heimat is currently planning the redesign and upgrading of the site with the support of the company Greencells and in cooperation with the city of Saarbrücken and the state of Saarland.
The Osthafen also includes moorings and berths for boats, operated by Motorboot-Club Saar e.V.
